Eva's Second Birthday Party

It's nice when we learn from our mistakes, isn't it? Eva's first birthday party in Seattle was a complete disaster. We had way too much on our plates. Too much food to cook, too many people, and we missed out on the main event: enjoying our daughter, taking pictures, and singing Happy Birthday to her. This year we significantly paired down the guest list, went across the street to Zeek's for pizza, and then returned to our house for cupcakes. We had a two hour time table that we stuck too and everything worked out so well. All the toddlers and adults were happy. Eva really had a sense that it was her birthday and she basked in the attention. When we sang "Happy Birthday" to her she looked around the room at everyone and just smiled as if she was saying, "I'm special, and I know it." I swooned with happiness. Eva was also very gracious about the gifts that she received.

I'm still in disbelief that my baby's day as a baby are a thing of the past. She is definitely a preschooler now!
